New Camerata Opera presents Benjamin Britten’s masterpiece, The Rape of Lucretia at Tribeca’s The Flea Theater on May 2, 4 and 5, 2019. Directed by Bea Goodwin, this rendering of the tragic story will confront the harsh reality of a woman’s experience with rape, suppression, and being silenced by men. This production will include a deaf actress to mirror the sung role of Lucretia. ASL will serve as a megaphone to further amplify the contours of Lucretia’s powerful story. Maestro Justin Bischof will lead the Modus Opera Orchestra in the performance of this groundbreaking score.
